I had to petition a GM for an item and when GM showed up to help me , I had Macroquest running with most DoCracks turned on. GM checked logs and gave item back to me and never said one word with all this running right in front of him. Pfft, They can't tell shit unless they catch you and YES I warp, chain zone all the time.

Of course they have no way to know the program is running. They can't see your system processes. And yep, only warp, chain zoning, xferring no drops, and speed hacking with a GM in zone will get you banned/suspended

They can target you and see through your eyes if they want, they have to choose to do that though. Not sure if any of the MQ stuff would show up to them from doing that either though. It may not, like how some things only appear to you and not other people's PC.

If they /snoop you they see your chat inputs, not your mq2 window. Would only be bad if you were talking about it in tells and admitting to using it to someone

You're wrong...they have a spell that lets them see your windows desktop. They can even attach it to your webcam and turn it on without you knowing so they get a profile shot and send it to the local police, who will come and arrest you for violating TOS.

hmm...I'm an MQ2 noob here...when I type I just use / to start the text...not click.

So if I type /warp target, it doesnt type it in my MQ2 window...is this an issue? Normally I have time to click over to the MQ2 box, but on the occasions that I'm getting beat on, I type in the reg chat box.

Does it matter?

yes it does matter. Any text that goes into your normal chat windows can be read at anytime by a GM. And add to the mix that is you make a mistake a give a command that goes out in /say or /ooc by accident, then it's pretty much game over for you at that point LOL. Best thing for you to do if you don't have time sometimes to type the command is set up hotbuttons for you mq2 commands. All my macro, etc. are hotbuttoned. I just click to start, stop, etc. etc.

You can type it in any window you want. MQ2 Filters it out. Don't give wrong
info.

And yes its safe to hotbutton anything you like. I could have a hotbutton reading "I'm going to assasinate John Smedly tomorrow at 3PM EST" And it no one would ever know ;).... MUAHAHHA

Let me start by saying I know Moch knows a lot more about MQ than I do...

But I believe the issue is mistyping. For instance if I were to type "/mav Autobot" in a normal chat window or "/Plugim mq2utilites" it will give you a error message in your chat that could be seen by a GM investigating you. Or worse yet you have a chat window setup for /say or /guild and type .plugin mq2utilities then everyone sees it. Typed correctly mq2 catches commands but typed incorrectly it does not.

I also generally use hotbuttons for common mq2 stuff and I try to remember to type in mq2 chat IF I think about it but occasionally I do type in the other chat windows.

BTW, I think Shadowman's statement that anything that "goes into the chat window" can be read is accurate but correctly typed mq2 commands do not go into the chat window even if that is where they were typed.

Not quite.

The client on your computer filters out any incorrect commands and does not send them to the server, otherwise it would create too much traffic overhead between the client and server just for "typos". So if you type in /mav autobot, the client gives an error, it's never sent to the server, and no GM can see the message. If you mistype something and broadcast it in say/guild/raid chat then yes it can be seen by server side snooping of a gm.

They can see some things other than just text by snooping. I agree they can only see what is sent from your computer to the EQ servers. I have been in a PVP event where the GMs looked through my 'eyes' and they could tell if a person was grouped or not.

Well I'm new here and really appreciate all the work that's gone into the things here...

While I wait for a working MQ2 to come out I've been snooping around here and I must say it's good to know you can get some real good advise here.

Hope I'll be able to make some contributions of my own soon

Actually you are wrong. MQ window and any hotb buttons are Client Side and not server. Not a single GM can see thru that even with thier so called /snoop

Snoop only see there chat boxes and what you type and see. Thats it.

They CANNOT look at anything client side without looking at your processes or anything like that. They know it violates law.

That is essentially what I meant and sorry I did not clarify better. Yes you can "properly" type mq2 commands in any chat window and mq2 filters them out. If though, you do what happens sometimes and you forgot to hit /, or even hit . by accident right beside it, you end up broadcasting what you said in what ever channel you are in. Any yes, hotbuttons for mq2 are safe as long as you know the commands are properly typed.

Who is wrong? I did not think anyone was saying hotbutton commands and info typed in mq2 windows could be seen by snoop or be detected in anyway. It has my impression that even though in the beginning when it was not clear, everyone agrees that mq2 window and hotbuttons are the safest. I thought that from following the thread there was a consensus that only info that accidentally made it to the CHAT (not MQ2) window was at risk and not everything that made it to the CHAT window would actually make it to the server. But as a clarification if you incorrectly type mq2 info and it goes into CHAT window as say/group/guild/ooc.... it can be seen later by a GM.

If you were saying my "I can tell if a person is in a group" statement is wrong. For a Red Cent I will tell you how to do it.

Yes, I did that the other day.

When I switch windows it often puts my cursor in a text box even if it wasn't there before. So I switch windows and type "i" to open inventory window and get: You say, "i" or "You say to your Guild, "i".

Anyway, they other day I accidentally said to my Guild, "i/mac fish" Someone answered, "You're a fish."

I doubt any else in my guild is here on redguides, but you never know.

On the plus side, I was skilling up in fishing while waiting on Sab tasktimer. On the downside, some of my guildies may have been smart enough to realize I'm using MQ. Oops. There goes my reputation...

LOL You'd be surprised at who you might find reading these forums.

Just a tip: Use AutoAlias so that once you type /mac fish you never have to type /mac again. MQ2 will store it as na alias and all you need to do is type /fish. Still somewhat obvious but a lot less incriminating if you send .fish to your guild than .mac fish

Unless of course you happen to work for MacDonalds and can claim its a work related condition
