In this mission you have to move up the ramps untill you get to the top. Kill some guards to spawn a named. Kill the named to get a Cocoon to drop. When you open that cocoon a gnome pops out and starts a script. He runs around opening cocoons and spawning mobs. About the only way to stop him is to root him then memblur when your medded up. Since the zone repops you can't clear it before you pop him. Also if you mez normal mobs he ignores them and paths on.

Here is the tip.
When he opens a cocoon. 1-3 "freeded Drachnid" pop out. If you mez one of them Cisero stops. His script won't let him path on untill all the "freeded" are dead, but he also can't attack a mezzed mob.

ever tried opening all the cocoons yourself and training all the mobs into a small circle?

No I havn't. You would have to train them in the very bottom of the spiral. Cisero goes to the center colum before leaving so your kite would have to be tight to one side. If he sees a mob he will agro on it.

hmm, might have to look at it sometime. depending on how well the mobs path in a circle I can usually get em pretty tight :)

This must of changed or something because I have done this mission many times on Hard and normal. When you mezed one and all rest dead he would take off on the script ignoring the mezed one. So I had to constantly break the mez before the one died so the gnome didnt run off.

Did they change this mission since a patch? I havent done this mission for several months though.

I have posted this before and got the same "doesn't work" posts. So I went and did it again. If you are mezzing the mobs that POP OUT OF THE COCOON. He stops. If you mez normal mobs he ignores them. Thats why the script locks up. He isn't allowed to notice mezzed mobs but also can't path on untill the mobs he is scripted to spawn are all dead.

Trick we used deals with the way he reacts. He will attack any nearby spider as long as it isn't mezzed. So, we usually have a bard or monk attack him, while someone pulls mobs ahead of where he is pathing. Once the mob(s) are pulled to the group, they bard/monk FD's, and Cicero will assist on the adds and help kill them. Once the adds are dead, he will either continue on his way. Rinse/repeat, but monks need to watch residual agro if fights last less than 2 mins.

Then again, the original post might work well too. The "Freed Drachnids" are the main part of the script he runs off of, so mezzing them rather than normal mobs might prevent him from continuing his script. Worth a shot, if nothing else. Controlling Cicero, and the zone, is the key to this mission.

Another option...

Done this about 13 times I hate that damn gnome!!! Anyhow if you have a chanter, keep root up on all your toons possible and root anytime you're not certain what to do. He doesn't hit that hard when he agro's you. Have the chanter mem blur him and pull a mob to him from up ahead. You can root park him all day if you want, just need mem blur. If you get caught by two or more mobs at once, slow them and concentrate the dps on cicero's mob, keep his HP's up high enough and he can take a mob on his own ez if its slowed....lots of other things you'll only learn from doing the mission a few times or bringing a friend to guide you.
