6 warps < 1 min solo task

There is a solo task in Katta Castrum called the Library Heist from Arcanist Variszh. It basically requires you to pick up 4 books off the ground in the library while evading the guards (if you get caught, all they do is take away the books you have picked up and kick you out of the library). Without warping, this task takes probably 5-6 mins if someone else isn't doing the quest as well.

Anyways here it is.

warp to each loc and pick up the book thats on the ground:

now warp back to arcanist and hand all four in, voila faction and 75 pp (original rewards, probably will go down soon)

books have a quick respawn, usually only have to wait 10 seconds tops before you can do quest again.

You need to trigger the 'Explore the Combine Library' step before picking up the books or you won't get credit. Usually the way I do this is to warp/run to the Explore trigger point, and itemtar/gank from there, then head back to do the turn in.

actually, you get that update when you warp to any of those locations, and I wasn't talking about targeting the items from afar, each of those locs put you right next to the books so you can pick it up yourself

couldn't you use the "gank" method? instead of warping and picking up?

the way i did this was to warp to the zi of the library and use a /itemtarget /gank /pause 5 /autoinv hotkey. i would like to use givenpc plugin to then turnin the books but it doesnt seem to work so gotta warp back to varis turnin and request the task again. as a side note anyone figured out what all the pottery parts are for yet?

any one written a macro script for running this yet ? I suck and can not write a macro. Not to say that I can't its more or less I don't have time i barley get to play EQ for two hours once all my clan raids are over cause of work schedule. any how yeah. if you got one i suck yo dik !

This is a particularly sensitive exploit. There are alot of folks running this legitimately. Since you can run this almost continually (well, 30 second or so spawn on the books), you stand a greater than average risk of being reported. Even working through the steps manually is higher-than-normal risk, so a macro should be used with extreme caution.

....and I'm not Chicken Little; I run Dreadlands tasks 8-10 hours per day -- recognize and accept that risk -- and still won't touch this Library for an extended period. When I do the Library (when no one is around), I use hot-key setups, rather than macros, so I can keep an eye peeled for other players.

I might make a macro for this. Takes 1 minute to get 75 pp, with 10 second wait timer. That means it's about 4,500pp / hour without the 10 second wait timer. So with the timer, I'd say 4,250 or around that area per hour.

Well if I'm going to make a macro for this I need to know, do the guards move. If they move the only way I can make it is with /warp's and you'd most likely get caught. At least if they don't move I can make you run there, just put an afk message like "my dog died I'm depressed.. don't want to talk" so no one will bug you.

Yes, the mobs move: that's the real challenge of doing it legit. If they catch you, they kick you out of the library and relieve you of the books you've collected. No death or loss of health, just yer books.

You can /gank from outside the library. I usually enter the library to get the first update, then immediately exit the library. I move away a bit, then generic /itemtarget -- /gank -- /autoinventory. Never found a need to name the items in /itemtarget; they're the closest (only?) groundspawns.

There's a sample macro in the MQ2 forums that gives syntax for using /face /keypress forward, /stick and stuff to avoid the vish DT. (the posted source doesn't work as posted, but isn't too bad to fix up.) (search for vish)

I'm just saying it wouldn't be too hard to macro this without using /warp target
