To get past the guards to ashengate, I often have a monk/SK/bard train them out and kite in a circular manner until everyone has run past; then the monk/sk/bard runs into the area closer to ashengate; and either fades/imitate deaths/FD's until they reset. Much easier than relying on a Cleric.

You seem to forget that Berserkers can't self heal, and thus will eventually need to take a break; whereas a group of paladins in CoD (especially with a group heal procing weapon) will be able to kill indefinately.
