I had a bat file with a single line for this with taskkill /f /im:eqgame.exe

Confirmed. The DDG browser when set as default browser now consistently fails. Setting Firefox and Edge as default browser, login opens with message to return to the app and works as intended. I would suggest a bugfix with the launcher team to see if they can get this worked out, please :)
