I get a message when I try to lauch MQ for EMU that the time and date do not match. It will not load.

yup.

check your dates on the error message.

it is going to tell you the dates for the mq2 build and the eq build.

they need to match.

I think you need the Titanium client for p99 (the MQ2 build is for ROF2, I believe). Also, p99 does not allow MQ2(?)
Correct on all points!

P99 = Titanium Client
Red Guides EMU version of MQ is for ROF2 (Many other popular EMU servers run this such as PEQ and Lazarus)
Not all EMU servers want MQ2 around and you will get banned, just like Live. Consequently, some EMU servers such as Lazarus openly promote its use. You'll find a welcoming environment with helpful folks who can assist you to set things up. The choice is yours :)

for clarity - these are the dates it was "built" not the date it was "built for"

the dates i was referring to are the dates the popup would provide saying they don't match
Yeah I figured after my first post it might just be a client / MQ2 version mismatch. It's why I asked about what version of EQ/ server they were trying to play. To kinda narrow down what they may need.

As far as I remember P99 has a pretty aggressive anti-MQ2 policy. While I don't know for sure but I have heard they have something in their files that monitors for such things, so they crack down on it pretty efficiently.

Whether it's true or not idk. I just avoided MQ2 on P99 all together when I played there, however @erfg12 has a really good P99 tool. It used to be free but now it's ~$5/month and does a lot of things that are likely considered active hacks. I used that on P99 the entire time I was there without problem or detection.

Just out of curiosity, how do these EMU servers have the source code to run an RoF server? Are they sanctioned by Daybreak somehow? I think P99 was ok with Daybreak, but RoF is much more recent.

I can't imagine how someone would get their hands on the source code.

The server side code was written from scratch. There is no law against reverse engineering and running your own server. Laws come into play when you start distributing or having people (other than you) connect.

That's dedication to the cause! You couldn't pay me enough to reverse engineer and rewrite the whole game, lol.

I wish we could get an even more recent EMU server client. Torment of Velious or Claws of Veeshan client would be incredible, but also require the client to be available for download somewhere anyone could get it, in it's entirety, fully "complete".

It’s illegal (actually illegal, not illegal the way some people mean “against the Eula”) to host an emu client that contains any of DPG’s copyrighted material.

Better off getting it off steam.

But Slade was talking about a newer version of the client as in one pinned to a later expansion.
