Using warp will get you banned, odessa and randomguy tell me there have been big changes in detection.

They changed the subroutine but from what I saw they just broke it up a bit, nothing special there. I was expecting too much from Sony :-/
 
As many of you know, we've spent a significant amount of time on our reporting systems to detect various hacks and exploits. The end result will provide a really positive impact. For example, without the reporting tools, we took action on over 1,000 accounts during the month of October. Although that number may seem high, the numbers generated by our reporting tools are considerably higher. These tools are currently limited to generating reports, but we are rapidly approaching a time where these will be used in a more robust manner. I won't go into detail, but I'd like to encourage anyone playing outside the natural boundaries of EverQuest to get back in those boundaries. Whatever advancement these exploits provide to individuals is not worth the damage that it does to the EverQuest community. Consider this fair warning.

They did change some code that hasn't been changed in forever both MLPTSC and DoTheZone have been changed, they are rewriting this code. Right now I don't see anything wrong with what MLPTSC is doing and DoTheZone should work with minor changes in plugins. All we know right now that they are in fact changing the old code for whatever reason.
 
ALSO, Odessa, PM me and I'll hook you up with a safe way to test the new stuff.
 
if there are server checks for warping, chainzoning, ect. big patches like this can expose us all. if we play for the days when there is no MQ2 and the gm's feel like looking to it. (just parse the number of "warps" from the days after the patches, and since they have names of the chars (im sure they do) and compare them to the numbers after MQ2 is released (since they have the information just like we do)). and it would show them exactly who is using MQ2. it might take them a couple patches to narrow it down but it would successfully show 90% of the people who do indeed /warp. it wouldnt help with afk macroing so much, but it would get rid of those who warp.

Also is there any confermation on new tracking with the warp or zone and/or baning for use of them.... or is this like every patch were they say they going to and they never realy do.....
 
This is old news post by developper on the last patch (not this one)...

The warp has been tracked many, many patches ago. It's a question if they are using it or are planning to use that information at any point. They said they have logging software so I guess for now they are looking into this situation and figuring out how to better deal with it.
 
SoE's had the capability to nerf warp for such a long time it's embarassing, but they decided to go the hard way and log heading, speed and location (in a separate function from the speed hack no less) and as far as I can tell it's biting them in the ass.
 
I've been warping for quite some time. Always finding ways to fix it and warp. I just can't play EQ with out /warp. Needless to say I've seen this type of thread a thousand times saying "If you warp your gonna get caught". Personally, I will be the first of the hacking comunity to get banned from warping. All I gotta say is for years i've done it and for years forward I will continue to do it. SoE will not change there ways this late in the development of a game. I will call it like it is. Bullshit. MQ2 will get patched and I will be warping again. AFK Macro Warping none the less. This type of thread has been done over and over again. Warping in my mind is very safe if you don't do it in front of PCs.
I suppose I have the mantality of the townsfolk in the boy who cried wolf. You say the "wolf is coming" enough. I just stop believing it and don't care, becuase the wolf never shows up.

Really though, I'm not saying it's all over for warp, just don't use it *yet* unless you know what you're doing or somebody who does gives the all clear.
 
Thanks for the tips Redbot, I will try to not use warp for a couple of days/weeks... Anyway I was only using it for SK mission so now that she's nerfed...

Warping will probably continue to be safe, and the sheer numbers of people who do it are insane. I've personally WATCHED people warp around in Pok of all places. Sony would be stupid to ban 1/8 of their client base. EQ may be a very small percentage, but it's still in the billions, I'd say.
 
LOL LMAO EQ in the billions......Do you know how much a billion dollars is?
That would mean there's roughly 7.7 MILLION EQ players...at 13 dollars a month..
 
aye, but spread it over the last 7 years, when on average people have 2-3 accounts each. and some with 10+. i know for a fact that there are at least 100,000 people that play EQ. which makes for thats 1.5mil a month, 18mil a year, and 126mil over the last 7 years, in fees alone. plus you factor in the expansions ($40 per expansion, x10 expansions x100,000 peeps = 40mil) which puts the total up to 146mil in 7 years. and that doesnt include peeps with more than 1 account. if you choose to factor in that 90% of peeps have 2 or more accounts, that is 292mil in 7 years (not including name changes, server transfers, account transfers since those are $50 a pop at least)
 
so it may not be in the billions but they are certainly on their way
 
Ok so they probably thought that if they find out who is using it they can just ban those accounts and then they look at the log and find out the numbers are FAR FAR FAR FAR greater then what they thought and decide not to just ban them........ I would say it is at least some thing they can use if they have no other reason to ban you but they decided that you should be banned

The police do that same tactic all the time..... pull you over for no real reason just so they can first check to make sure you not drunk or wanted... then they find some silly reason to give you a ticket say they told you that they saw you with out your seat belt on, you reply to them i just took it off after i stopped to get my wallet out of my pocket for you but i had it on before that.... then knowing he will loose the court case that you will fight the ticket on he then turns in to ROBOCOP and finds like 10 or so minor vehicle violations such as the small crack in your tail light cover or the fact that your license plat light is too bright...


NE way my point is i think SOE might be logging it to have some hard proof of the cheating incase then find you red handed in a greater crime but they cant proof it... so instead of possibly loosing a court case against a person and end up paying out the yin-yang they find some thing that is irrefutable proof to ban you for.....

I.E. They are C.Y.A.

Dam dude... take it to court... Get the initial reason for the stop thrown out and the crack gets kicked... as well as the other things...
