    Zone Experiance Modifier: I need your help.

    Hello fellow red guides users and eq players!

    TOMORROW dbg will patch all LIVE servers and the experience modifier for some zones WILL be changed. We don’t know which zones will have their exp lowered or raised so our ONLY chance to figure this out is to go and kill at least one mob in each zone OF THE EXACT SAME level as our character is.

    Please record YOUR LEVEL, CLASS and RACE and which server you did the test on.

    We also need to know the level class and race for the mob you kill.

    We have TODAY to record this, after the patch it will be too late.

    I need help, if we could crowd investigate this and post the results in this thread that would be great.

    Basically here is my suggestion, post which zone you are going to check, then go do it and come back later and post the info in your post.
    That way we wont be doing the same zones.

    Basic rules to follow:

    1. ALWAYS be the SAME level as the mob you kill, example be a level 1 and kill a level 1.
    2. Stick to level 1 for all zones where they have level 1 mobs you can kill for exp.
    3. If you do upper guk for example, pick a mob that MATCHES your level.
    4. Make a hotkey to echo targets class and race /echo ${Target.Race} ${Target.Level}

    To make this easy, create a hotkey with /echo ${Me.PctExp} and click it before the fight, kill the mob and click it again.

    Kill at least 1 mob per zone. We need to know WHAT you killed and what race and class YOU are.

    Thanks in advance, and I hope we can do all the CLASSIC zones before friday's patch. I will reward people with red cents and maybe even get @Redbot to send a Krono or a mug or something to whoever posts the most results. (no promises unless he confirms) edit: CONFIRMED!

    ANY LIVE SERVER IS FINE FOR THIS TESTING EXCEPT TEST SERVER AND FIRIONA VIE
    No merc and no group, if you need heals use an outside healer.

    UPDATE: we got all zones pre patch and I have now started to collect all the data and add it to this post, so if it looks weird know that I?m still working on it.
    Once it?s done and filled in we can do the math and tell you which zones had their zem changed.

    Real life and the Tradeskill Guides I am working on have me too busy to participate in this myself sadly. I wish Daybreak had given us more forewarning about this because I am very interested in having the information; I even requested it in the patch notes thread on the EQ forums.

    What I can do though is help out with incentivizing people!

    Everyone who documents a single location I "thank" and reward redcents!

    Anyone here who documents multiple locations I can pay in platinum on FV. Also, anyone who documents one location and just wants a nice ol' pat on the back in the form of Collection Sets - toss me a PM here with your character's name and I will send you some of those on FV too.

    Those of you who play on FV I can reward as follows:

    200k plat for every location you document ACCURATELY after you document 3 locations. Accurately means in either the way EQmule demonstrated or in a way similarly that we can understand/re test. DO NOT RUSH when you do this; also I won't pay for duplicated locations -- although maybe if you're correcting someone elses mistake, guess we'll hash that out if it happens.



    If you document 10 locations I will give you a krono. Have fun!
    (Krono and plat wont be rewarded in combination; I will wait until patch day to hand out Krono/plat rewards)


    Also a P.S - Remember that if you do a location at a specific level you or someone else is going to need to go back and redo that same location at that level. This means repeatedly killing a character or having to level him up which is going to be a pain in the arse and a total nightmare (some levels would be impossible to reach through death lke 2-5 which if you document any location at these levels that'll just make it wayyy more time consuming later than it needs to be since the character will need to be those levels to retest it). Due to this I highly recommend you try and never level up past 1 when possible. That would mean deleting a character any time it hits level 2 and when you actually need to level up past level 1 -- level to at least 6 that way anyone in the future can just delevel their character to ALWAYS match your level.

    I've done tests, however I had different cons (wrote down the level when killed). Come Wednesday I can run some comparisons on the exact same level to see if the data matches up with what you guys are getting. If it is completely consistent, the % change should be the same.

    Don't forget to hit OOT.

    Warrior have some exp bonus, FV also have exp bonus (i think).
    Maybe better testing on Phinny and not warrior/halfing/ etc exp bonus class?

    The idea is to get a test sample prior to the change then go back after the patch and repeat the exact same test (under identical conditions) to determine the % change. It is important to know the exact exp given before and after also. Simply stating 6% will not give a precise reading of change. If the ZEM changed from 25% to 20%, there is too much margin of error in whole percentages for your kill exp. You would not be able to determine that change. Or worse, it might indicate a change that did not happen. If all conditions are the same before and after you should get accurate data. The reason they are testing even con is to keep things constant in the before and after tests. For example, if you killed a yellow con, it could be one level above you or two levels above you. When you went back to retest after the patch, you would have no way of knowing if the yellow con you were about to kill was the exact same level of the previous test. Mule said use MySEQ or the MQ output for level so you know the exact level of the target you are killing. This will allow you to have a larger range of mobs to kill. However, if you are solo with an outside healer, be careful not to reach the exp cap per kill.

    When retesting, you will need to delevel to the exact same level you did the first test. For example, an even con at level 10 will give a different % than and even con at level 15.

    It is important to complete the pre-testing before Wednesdays patch. After the patch there will be no way to determine the ZEM changes without pre-patch data.

    This test will not indicate what the current ZEM is, just the change in ZEM.

    They have to use LIVE servers right now because the ZEM change patch is not on Live servers.

    Ok look, they are going to change which zones have extra exp enabled in tomorrow’s LIVE patch, this change goes LIVE for all servers so it matters to everyone even if you don’t play on TLP.

    We are killing even con mobs on the LIVE servers BEFORE the patch so we can figure out WHICH zones they changed ZEM in AFTER it. (I already know the zem percentages, this is not what I’m after, I just want to know which zones where changed)

    It doesn’t matter if a race or class has a personal exp bonus, as long as the exact same class and race and level is used to test AFTER the patch.

    Please guys today is the last day to get this done, I’m disappointed there isn’t much more interest and people helping with this.

    We know that killing a mob NOW in Lower Guk (1.35 ZEM) gives 35% extra exp compared to a zone where zem is 1.0

    If the exact same mob gives LESS than that AFTER the patch we will know that the ZEM was lowered THERE.

    The example in the macro is a level 2 killing a level 1 mob, and that’s not the kind of test we need.
    Please see the output people have posted.

    If you use the above macro edit it to only kill mobs of the same level, have it echo YOUR level class and race as well as the mobs level class and race and then a ${Me.PctExp} before and after the kill.

    Also we only need classic zones, for today.

    REALLY?

    the toon was a test toon. it records the level of the mob and the character and the zone.
    creating a lv 1 in crescent was for my testing and has nothing to do with you ZEM
    its just to show what it looks like
