Last time I checked, compiling Macroquest wasn't against the EULA and even if Twist files have his name on it (which is bad...) there is no grounds for Sony to ban on. I could play EQ without macroquest but yet still compile and write plugins on the side for it, and not break the EULA....If he really was banned, fight the hell out of it...and also, Lie.

I just updated the compile, I did forget to take out the twist files. but still does not prove I use MQ2, and until there is proof, there is no conviction.

Some of you may find it funny, yes I got banned, big fukkin deal. I will get unbanned as my account has never had an issue in over 5 years. I will, however, seriously consider ever doing a compile for a bunch of people that I do not know. The E-Mail from sony will tell me for sure. I would like to think that my kindness was not stomped on.

In all seriousness though. The pre-compile guys were actually talking about having only one for the redguides forum. That way, it certainly makes troubleshooting much easier when everyone knows which compile your using. Sure, I don't think precompiles are a good thing, but hey. Whatever.

You learned a valuable lesson today. Your life isn't gonna end, and, while your absolutely correct that you posting a compile doesn't implicate you as actually USING MQ2, if I were a betting man, I'd wager against you getting your account back. SoE are douchbags. Look at what they did to TP.

Please explain to me just because he did something nice, that means he wants a pat on the back? If I could compile for the masses, I would do it too and I could give a shit about a pat on the back. Ya know, some people in this world can do things out of simply being nice. I think he did a good job to post the precompile. I know everyone talked about having just one precompiled option on the site, but sometimes when people do things differently, it opens the eyes of everyone else to new ideas and other methods. Someone contributes to the site and the first thing you do is cause trouble for it? Seems to me he is not the one with the problem. Sorry, I know I should not do this, but I hate to see someone contribute then get stabbed in the back for doing it.

Dude there is absolutely NO need for many compiles. There's no need for any actually but that's a whole different story.
I don't see how every person doing their precompile is contributing, if it was I'm sure everyone who can compile the code would be posting it here. You see what it leads to sometimes, the person gets banned. There's a reason you can't get access to this forum by posting a precompile - to access you need an actual contribution.
I truly do feel bad for the guy, he made a really sucky mistake I usually don't feel bad for cheaters since we all know we are asking for it, but in this case it was one of those really 'stupid' mistakes.

I got banned for SoEs assumption that I use the program. Maybe I do, maybe I dont.. only my true friends know for sure../wink. But like I have always said, there is cheats to ANY game you will ever play, always has been, always will be. Fact is, EQ is getting old, their last expansion proves it. People are getting bored and places like this become the news. SoE should really just wake up and smell the roses, Cheats are here to stay, and will never be gone, only your games will..

As far as messing up with including personal stuff in precompiles, it has happened tons before, from line's in .ini files to blatant file names, to programs that were not meant to be seen/used at the time. Everyone from Tone to Cosmic has made this mistake....it's not uncommon.

By the way, does it say you're suspended or *Banned*
Because a lot of people say "I'm banned!" when they really were suspended for a handful of days...not saying you're one of them, but wondering

I agree that we should all combine to form one huge compile, but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.

I've said I am against precompiled binaries for the public a few times now. That said, I also use precompiled binaries. Go figure. I'm a lazy bastard and if someone is going to save me 10 minutes, I'm not going to continue to be bitter about people who barely know how to play their character, many times, trying to learn MQ2 on top of the game itself.

That said, if precompiled binaries are here to stay, it would be very cool if there were a standardized compile that all the contributors put together.

A few suggestions.
-Leave docrack out. Let people get that on a different thread as the ini is handled now.

-Make the precompile a fresh "out of the box" compile with just the bare bones loaded. Leave the plugin's in there that you want to add, just don't preload them in the mq ini that way, folks will only load what they want to use.

-also insure that the date check and auth are disabled. (kind of goes with outsaying) :P

#1. I have to admit that this is a bit of a let down. I see a subject called Booby Compile, come in here and check things out and there's no boobies to be found. (Disclaimer: This was meant to be funny, please don't take offense)

#2. A note to the folks who have stated that the presence of the twist files with the usernames is not proof that you use MQ. If my memory serves me correctly, if the plugin is loaded, when you log in any specific character and have MQ running, the plugin generates a default file for that character. If MQ2 is not running, or the plugin is not loaded when you log in your character, then the default twist files will NOT be generated. Hence, the existance of the file in the first place is evidence that you did in fact log in with MQ2 running and the twist plugin loaded on those characters.

Not trying to be a jerk or anything here, just stating facts. I do feel for those folks who try to help others by making a precompile for the masses who haven't been able to figure out how to make their own. May this be a lesson to those out there who desire to help out. Make sure you scour your work before you release it to the world. Don't stop helping others, just be more careful.

A note to ( @ )( @ ): Keep up the good work and I hope that you find the Ban lifted soon.

Besides, why would an up to date "Current" version of MQ2 be used on an EQEmu server thats most certainly not running completely up to date software from 3 days ago, and when you take into effect that this compile was current on the same day as the patch was applied it's a no brainer. Bad defense in my opinion.

I'm playing Devils Advocate here. All I'm saying is that "Just because he has the default files doesn't mean he broke the EULA" doesn't hold water. It sucks that someone who was trying to do good for others made a simple mistake and got slammed for it. But there's a lesson to be learned, nothing to be defended. Learn the lesson, be better for it, don't make the same mistake, and stop trying to make excuses for him. Simple.

I will, however, seriously consider ever doing a compile for a bunch of people that I do not know.

See..... He has already learned. Betcha $10 he doesn't make the same mistake again.
