I’m thinking of starting some completely new accounts / toons on Test server with an aim to try and master box raiding. I’ve been playing the game for 20 years and over the last 3 years have been using MQ to 6 box and am at the stage where I am pretty bored and because of the recent ban waves have not been playing much - most of my accounts have years worth of characters.

So interested in people’s experience of starting again, especially on test, and whether my thoughts on building a team of 36 characters would be enough to raid through raid content as designed (as in I’d like to raid HoTT at level 85 not Zerg it at level 125).

My thoughts on picking test were more about the free gold status rather than anything else - don’t mind purchasing expacs but having gold subs on 36 acs is a bit much 😂.

Is there any evidence to suggest DBG take a firmer line on bans/suspensions on test rather than Live?

this portion of your question is best had in the baspend mega thread, not here. tl;dr - we saw ba/spends on test this year.

in my personal opinion - get yourself 36 toons and find an MQ friend or two with a mix of toons that have similar goals.

I know of a few crews who will do stuff together until things are on farm, and then go solo them when on farm/strats/scripts are made.

Plus you have friends to chat with about what you're doing and such - helps with burnout and maybe you need 1 more bard or they need 1 enchanter that you have etc.

If you're open to Emulator servers, I'd check out Convergence. Bunch of us playing there with 6-54 player raids. No risk of ban, no expansions to purchase but as a progression server we're only at Kunark for the moment. I believe Velious will be in December or Jan. It does take a lot of time and effort to control that many characters effectively.

ive been raiding on test for almost 4 years and have been a huge supporter of doing just what your saying the whole time. as far as the bannenings and hammers its no different than any live server except in one way. test is a very low population server so keeping masses out of view is almost essential. up until this year i barely had any issues than lost 9/12 LS accts and 6 NoS accts. and the others in our crew got hit just as hard. so weve been barely raiding. i think moving forward its best to assume youll have some loss on a regular basis regardless of where you play. if your not planning on raiding endgame it is f2p on the same schedule as live. (up to tol atm) so if your only doing HoT like you mentioned you wont have to worry about expansion loss. best of luck hope this helps!

Thank you that’s really helpful. I’ve raided everything on live so not in a rush to get to latest content. I’ll probably just go through each expac and try and complete as many raids as I can. I know that some will be very difficult with mechanics but am planning to try and learn some scripting as I go. That will give me the challenge I am looking for.
