Question - Overall Dexterity or ONLY HDex? (1 Viewer)

the one on tab 2 of char screen, the green numbers.. thats *true* dex. if you look in upper right, hover over the effects, and will tell you the *gates* for them (its not a liener climb)

Straight out the mod2 don't matter really what you are going for is maxing out your crit rate. for melee dpsers (not including zerkers) there isn't a reason not to go even further. hybrid tanks go to about 4k and can diversify but it is debateable if it is worth it. warriors could builds straight balance and wouldn't really care. currently in the game only zerker and warrior are maxed outside certien adps situations ie auspice superior banner and ancestral aid. this game is no longer a game of stats to survive really it is all about more dmg, there for as long as you are not a druid cleric or pure caster hdex is the way to go and that includes shm on the hdex train. basically rn the higher your hdex you have the better your toon will be

there are some caveats to that such as evolvers augs for procs and accuracy over pure hdex but 99% of the time it is better to go full hdex and not stop at 4k, that said after 4 you stop getting as much of a increase from hdex due to not gaining more mod2s but again they aren't the actual goal of stacking hdex raising your crit chance is

Yep, and that's a HUGE part of the problem. You have mod2's, but they don't mean anything. I said when they combined the eq2 and eq1 devs into 1 pool that there would be a lot of design overlap that ended up breaking things and this is one of the examples. Bards becoming a qausi-dps class is another, via dots. eq2 stats are generally garbage and useless because the devs over there don't know what they're doing, and that same failure is leaking heavily into eq1 since they merged those teams. Really makes me sad they've done that because of the results. The fact that for virtually every class all you need is hDEX is just more fodder for the fire. I know people will advocate for hSTAM on occasion, but in general it is better to use hDEX even for casters/priests. So all those other stats are useless. There are some that will advocate for hSTAM for shaman, but they don't need it and are better off meleeing for procs since DPS is the only thing the modern devs know. They're running the game into the ground with their one dimensional vision of both games. DPS should be a choice of hSTR or hDEX. There is no reason a pure melee should be using hDEX at all. etc etc etc....lots of failure in the design choices, but the mod2's get high enough without even bothered to try that they've lost all meaning, yet another design fail. The fact you can hit 100% crit rate in general, even under burn conditions, is just dumb.
