Or even worse, take a permanent vacation at their discretionI would not. I thought it was a bad deal then and I'd have the same opinion today if they offered it again. There were many signs that pointed towards it being a cash grab, "quick, we need to hit quarterly profit" goals scheme to make them look more attractive to a potential buy-out. Any time something like that is offered, it's never in the consumer's best interest. There is always an ulterior motive behind it. They needed a big haul of cash at that specific point in time, for some reason or another that we may never know for certain. And you can't trust that they won't pull the plug on the game, or you personally lose interest in the game before you see the deal pan out.
Counterpoint though: anyone who did it has likely paid less in subscription fees than you have.I would not. I thought it was a bad deal then and I'd have the same opinion today if they offered it again.
Just curious, has either account ever been suspended?I bought lifetime all-access on two accounts. No regrets.
both of themJust curious, has either account ever been suspended?
Wow. Never thought about that but from DBs point of view, catching those accounts violating terms would probably be number one priority.both of them
It's not. There is no check on suspensions with regard to any payment (just like spending more money in the store doesn't make it less likely for you to get suspended).Wow. Makes me feel a little better about missing the opportunity, but just a little.
Pick me!!!Who remembers when EQ let you buy your account a life time All Access membership for 299.99$?
I sure do, who out there would spend that 300 bucks on accounts you have now?
I sure would.
I feel like as a business they would certainly tier their enforcement… are there any details on why it wouldn’t be like that? It's not. There is no check on suspensions with regard to any payment (just like spending more money in the store doesn't make it less likely for you to get suspended).
Free to play @Knightly. Bots make plat, plat buys Krono, Kronos make more baby bot alts.Counterpoint though: anyone who did it has likely paid less in subscription fees than you have.
Because the group that handles enforcing that has no idea what levels your account is or your billing information. But why would it be like that? The intent of enforcing the rules is to keep the game fair to everyone. An unfair game doesn't attract players. Allowing people who pay more to get away with more is likely to impact business in other ways as well, since game actions have a ripple effect. Their system is simple because it doesn't need to be complex. There are not a lot of businesses who do tiered rule enforcement even when they have tiers, it just doesn't make business sense.I feel like as a business they would certainly tier their enforcement… are there any details on why it wouldn’t be like that?
I feel like tiering would be FTP accounts and lifetime subscription would be top priority.

Thanks Knight, your last comment says it all!Because the group that handles enforcing that has no idea what levels your account is or your billing information. But why would it be like that? It's not worth getting into in this thread, but there is a not insignificant amount of people who don't play the game anymore because they believed the literal thousands of dollars that they spent on the game protected them from rule enforcement and they found out they were wrong.
Everything has a cost. Even if you just counted krono as opportunity cost, the statement holds true.
I did on one account. I wish I did on all six.I bought lifetime all-access on two accounts. No regrets.
Out of curiosity, why?Would not do it again.
Why I didn't worry about them going out of business? Well they had a track record at that point of keeping the game alive for just under 20 years.Out of curiosity, why?
I thought it was a cash grab at the time to pump their valuation for a sale.
Ahh, that was the question I was asking. I was curious on the value proposition change from prior. Understood. As for why I would not do it again? If I were younger I would, but as we get older things change.
Shhh don’t tell @Knightly he’s right…that’s like feeding gizmo after midnight or giving it a bathThanks Knight, your last comment says it all!
Hmm for some reason I thought the price was $199.99 for the lifetime in 2018?Sure, but let's say you did it for that one account -- it was last offered on December 31st, 2018 (which was the second time it was offered, so those who bought in on the first round broke even sooner). The very worst possible deal you could have is 4 years, 4 months of time. That's $299.99 for that time period. Versus the annual subscription (for which you'd currently have paid $499.95) or the krono equivalent of 53 kronos (1580 / 30). Both of which are worse deals than the lifetime account since the time it was offered.
Of course, lifetime doesn't make sense if you get banned or quit before your break even (assuming you never come back and continue on the lifetime account to later break even). And it's not like anyone could predict the future.

I missed out and felt bad so purchased the Lotro lifetime when it available ... and just couldnt ever get into the game. i guess if i had redguides for it maybe would be different ;PWho remembers when EQ let you buy your account a life time All Access membership for 299.99$?
