When I searched the forums the only thread I found was from 2021. I see this is now in alpha (apparently for the next year and a half). Has anybody recently tried this out? Even though it's still far from release it, it looks like it could be very interesting. If EQ keeps banning my shit, think I might try it out lol!

EDIT: Link to the game website.

I got a few friends who enjoy it. Got a few friends who did not enjoy it. The big issue is when leaving a great game like everquest you jump into other MMO like games expecting everquest and never see it. The let down can be massive. If you do try it and dislike it I do suggest trying out EQ emulators. They are quite open to mq.

I hope AoC turns out to be a good MMO, I canceled 72 gold EQ accounts about 3 years ago cause of the bans on MQ and the true box TLP's. I think if EQ does not find a compromise with the MQ community it will eventually get replaced one day. Then need to realize the EQ fans from 1999 have all grown up and have busy lives and can no longer put in 14+ hours a day dealing with other real players, if you have 2 to 3 hours a night to play or 2 to 3 hours every other night you no longer have the time to look for other real players for hours on end to get stuff done.

I enjoy watching PirateSoftware stream AoC on twitch. He has good opinions on games, and good insight as a former blizzard employee.

I like the concept that the game has player-driven conflict over competing for limited in-game resources. Very similar to EVE online.

Yep that is exactly who I have been watching as well, it's also where I first found out about it.
